We Will Go Forth in Grace Alone

As we prepare for our final worship service at Overland Park Lutheran Church this Sunday, I looked back on the Staff Trax I wrote before our first service almost 2 1/2 years ago. I quoted a beautiful song called “Grace Alone,” which talks of promises, prayers, steps of faith, and differences we make that are only by His grace. The words keep coming back to me as we have spent the last few weeks ironing out details for our next big leap of faith together as a congregation.
I want to thank in advance the small but mighty crew of volunteers who will give up an afternoon on their holiday weekend to help move our worship items out of OPLC and into Atonement Lutheran Church. We are working closely with staff and members of Atonement to make our shared worship space a place of meaningful connection for our congregations individually, but also together as an extended community of faith. I’m feeling God’s grace with every encounter.
On Sunday, May 31, Atonement will host our traditional worship service with organ, hymns, and traditional liturgy at 9:30 a.m., and Salem will host our contemporary service at 11:00 a.m. with our band, praise songs, and contemporary liturgy. Please plan to stay after the traditional service or come early for the contemporary service for coffee and treats from 10:30-11:00 a.m. as we fellowship together and get to know our new friends.
Thank you, my dear Salem family, for the grace you have extended as we continue our journey of faith together.
Grace alone, which God supplies.
Strength unknown, He will provide.
Christ in us, our cornerstone.
We will go forth in grace alone.
