How You Live

There’s a beautiful song called “How You Live” by Point of Grace. It talks about taking chances and living life to the fullest by loving yourself and others. Here are some of my favorite lines:
“Don’t run from the truth, ‘cause you can’t get away — just face it and you’ll be ok.”
“So give to the needy, and pray for the grieving, even when you don't think that you can.”
“Wherever you are and wherever you've been, now is the time to begin.”
“It's not who you knew, and it's not what you did, it's how you live.”

Living life to the fullest and giving of ourselves is hard. You have to be very intentional, willing to be vulnerable, and always forgiving yourself and others when things don’t go the way you planned. When you want something to change, you reach out to others who want the same change, and do something different, together.

Finding a supportive and encouraging community is key. Look for people who care about you, who will laugh and cry with you, celebrate your successes, and catch you when you fall. Then support them back: be there for each other, make memories together, and make a difference for others. Having a community that cares for each other takes us out of ourselves, showing us that we are God’s light to the world, which illuminates our lives as well.

Thank you, Salem, for being my community.
