Summer Excitement!

Salem is doing amazing things this summer!

  • May 25-June 2, we are taking a team of adults on a mission trip to Guatemala.
  • June 9-15, our middle school confirmands are going to Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp in the Colorado Rockies.
  • June 17-20, we are diving into friendship with God together with Overland Park Lutheran and Overland Park Presbyterian churches for Vacation Bible School.
  • July 16-23, our high school youth are going to the ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans and staying a few more days to work with a local mission.

I am so excited about these opportunities for growing in our faith as we worship in new places, serve others, and strengthen our relationships in mission and fellowship with our Salem family and others! Our youth will be traveling with our extended church families in Collective (Kaw Prairie, Atonement, and Holy Cross Lutheran) and we’ve been having events together all year to encourage those connections.

The ELCA National Youth Gathering happens every three years, but was canceled in 2021, so this is our first opportunity for our high school youth to go since 2018. These amazing gatherings typically have more than 30,000 students from around the country coming together to praise God, learn more about each other, and deepen their faith. We have nine youth and two adults attending the gathering and Rainbow Trail this summer.

Thank you so much to all who were able to invest in our youth during our stock drive on Palm and Easter Sundays. The money given goes directly to help pay for these extensive trips in the summer.

If you would like to support us, we would appreciate it so much! You may write a check to Salem Lutheran Church with “youth stock drive” in the memo, or give online: CLICK HERE and then click on Youth Stock Drive Fundraiser. Thank you so much for your encouragement!
