Miracles Will Happen

I am a believer in miracles. Sometimes we pray, hope, and dream for them, but many times they are unexpected … and we miss them if we aren’t paying attention. I try to watch for them, as they are so often in the small details of life.

This Sunday we’ll talk about Jesus feeding 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish. His disciples did not believe they could make this work, but Jesus simply blessed the food and told the disciples to give it to the crowd. They ate their fill and had twelve baskets left over! This was a huge miracle, but it just started with Jesus having compassion for his followers, so he healed and fed them.

When I was choosing music for this Sunday, Faith and Nora (my songleaders for the week) picked up a ukelele and started creating new lyrics to a song to describe this scripture. The original title was “Miracles Can Happen,” but as I looked over the words they wrote, I realized they were more confident:

(sung to the tune of “Lava” from Moana)
So when we care, and do not despair
Miracles will happen with twelve baskets to spare
All of God’s children He will satisfy
God loves us

Can you think of miracles in your life? They don’t have to be something too amazing to explain; maybe a song gives you a message you didn’t realize you needed, or a friend appears when you needed a smile. Keep watching for miracles — they will happen!
