Don’t Be Discouraged

There are many times that we go through challenges in our lives. We pray for guidance and to help us through those times. But is that enough?

I start my morning with prayer, giving thanks for what I have and what God helps me with. I then pray for my family and loved ones, and end with a prayer for myself. The prayer I ask is for guidance, protection, and many other personal thoughts. It’s a conversation that I enjoy, and it helps me with what is to come that day.

Prayer for loved ones in times of trouble is difficult, at least for me. I pray for what I’m wanting to happen, and pray about it daily. I pray for guidance to try to help a loved one, guidance for that person to pray and find faith. There are so many things that I try to do, hoping my prayer will be answered.

Some will be tempted to lose heart and give up. We are tempted to turn to other means of rescue. Prayer can feel so inactive. But this is precisely what Jesus calls us toward.

We must be persistent. Every day is different; different challenges and different paths we take can change to where new challenges come. Jesus tells us to always be praying and not lose heart. Don’t be discouraged. Don’t be dejected. Don’t give in to cynicism. Or bitterness. Or overcome with negativity. Keep on hoping. The Lord will always be there.
