Fall Is Upon Us!

September is one of the busiest months of the year. In a strange way, it seems like the beginning of the holiday season. The retail stores are certainly trying to tell us that we better go to the stores and start buying things for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all at one time.
I don’t know about you, but this causes me stress. I am not ready for the holidays to be upon us in September. I want to enjoy the upcoming fall season. The beautiful fall colors, cooler temperatures, football games. Sweaters and hot chocolate. We do start saying things like, Where did the year go? Time just flies! We have so much to do before the end of the year!
Those slower summer months are behind us now, and we only have a few months until another year ends. The days are shorter. It feels like we have less time to accomplish things. This is not true, of course. It just seems that way because darkness creeps up on us faster each day, adding a little additional stress to our lives.
We must not forget, though, that we are God’s children. No matter where we are in life, God is always right here. It is so easy to become overwhelmed and slide our faith to the back of our life. We are too busy dealing with daily matters. With God at the forefront of our life, we realize that we can keep our lives balanced and reduce our stress knowing that he is in control of things. He is our support. We have faith because of God in our lives. We make better decisions because God is leading the way.
The next time you feel overwhelmed by the seasons or by something else that is adding stress to your life, keep God at the forefront and push the stress to the back. Your faith in Him will help you reduce the stress that hurts you.
… fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10, ESV)
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. (Romans 12:12, ESV)
Throw all your anxiety onto him, because he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:7, CEB)
