Father’s Day

Sunday is Father’s Day.

This year will be one to remember for myself. My youngest and last to leave for college has affected my life so much in raising her from infant to a young adult.

These past years with all of her activities she has done for years, each one that ended came to an emotional end. Though I didn’t show it during the last game, last team banquet, and last awards, I knew this part of her life was coming to an end, but there was also a new beginning.

Through the years of Paige growing, having talks about life lessons, sadness, and how to get through tough times, listening to her concerns she would have to teaching her how to drive, getting her driver’s license, getting a job, a car, and beginning her own life as a young adult.

I know she’ll be going away but is still close to home, and I will always be there for her. I am so proud of her in all of her accomplishments and hard work she put in with everything she did and does to make a difference in this world.

In closing, on this Father’s Day, I reflect on a verse I have on my ring that I wear that is what makes me a strong parent and father for all of my children.

Proverbs 3:1-12

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you peace and prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones. Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.
