Christmas 2020

'Tis the season for families getting together exchanging gifts, reflecting on the year, and spending time with each other listening to old Christmas songs. That’s what I remember. Oh, those were the days. It was just a year ago, I was in Omaha spending Christmas week with my mom and dad. We talked about us kids growing up and coming downstairs at the break of dawn with excitement of what gifts we received. We laughed at so many of those times, especially the times when my dad was just getting to bed on some of those mornings.

That week that I had some personal time during which I wrote a letter of memories as a child growing up and how I felt for all of those holidays, vacations, day-to-day events, and what my parents did for us kids. We were so blessed with all we had. You don't think of that when you’re little, a teenager, or even as a young adult, of just how much parents do for their children.

Christmas morning I woke up early to the smell of coffee, something I remember from years past. We didn't travel during the holidays when Paige was little; it was usually a week before Christmas that we would visit our families. I turned on some holiday music, my dad made breakfast, which was his favorite meal of the day, and we just enjoyed the morning. As the family started to arrive, we opened presents and took pictures as each opened their gifts. Oh, how time flies.

We are all blessed with what we have. What we do day-to-day and who we meet and share our lives with keeps us going. Enjoy your life; don't worry about tomorrow, give when you can, spread your love to all you meet, and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Love each other with genuine affection and take delight in honoring each other.
