Weekend Getaway, Zoom Style

I recently participated in a Zoom spiritual gathering this past weekend. It was supposed to be in Wichita. It would have been nice to meet new people, but it was still a great experience. Changing it to a Zoom gave people all over the world a chance to also attend, so there were people from Canada to London, as well as from Florida to California, and in between.

The gathering started with introduction to everyone, but we were broken into small groups to make it more personal, introducing ourselves, where we were from, and what brought us. Most had been before, and others were just wanting to learn more and grow closer to God and themselves. We met in small groups until everyone was able to meet each other.

After a short break we broke off into smaller groups, with each small group having a team leader to help out when needed and to get more personal about what brought them and look for guidance in how to grow closer to themselves spiritually and to God. This was intense in a good way, and we found out issues people had or have had, and were able to help them through them, through similar experiences.

It put into perspective just how much we are all alike and connected to each other in some way no matter where we live on this planet. We all have run into challenges and trials throughout our lives; the feeling of how we got to that place and how each overcame and how it brought them closer to themselves spiritually and to God was the amazing part.

The event was a great experience, and I continue to learn more in everyday life. It was not new to me, but seeing it differently has really helped me grow spiritually.

The Bible is not just putting your feet in the water and wading around. It's putting yourself in the ocean — listening, feeling, tasting, smelling it all. When reading and getting into learning, we are in conversation with God. We find ourselves listening and answering in matters that most concern us: who we are, where we came from, where we are going, what makes us tick, and most of all — the incredible love God has for us all.
