New Beginnings

We all have had and will continue to have a multitude of new beginnings. Which means there must be new endings. Jobs, marriages, divorces, graduations, children, natural disasters, unnatural disasters, girlfriends and boyfriends. A long list for sure.

New beginnings bring emotions that run the gamut from utter bliss to utter despair. Fortunately our lives aren’t swinging like an overwound pendulum, from great to ugh on a daily basis. But it does swing out of our comfort zone from time to time, and we are forced or are moved to make changes. I often used the term “redirecting” with my children. “Two of you are leaving for college and one is joining the Navy soon, so let's redirect our focus from a very large home to a much smaller, manageable home.”

Perhaps that would be descriptive of our upcoming move to Central Baptist Theological Seminary. We are redirecting our congregation, staff, and friends to a new place of worship. I can’t imagine the prayers, meetings, and conversations that have gone into this new chapter of Salem Lutheran Church. I am excited, hopeful, and blessed to be a small part of this. And grateful. Just grateful.

I will share with you two of my favorite Bible verses regarding changes I’ve had to make personally.

Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all of your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight the paths.

Lamentations 3:22-23: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

With my blessings and love,
