The Path of Life

You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
— Psalm 16:11

Our Lenten theme was “The Path.” In the midst of the wilderness, in our need of understanding, in the midst of our thirst, in the need of being guided, in our need to be healed, and our need to be awake, it was a path together that we never expected to take, but here we are down the path of life with our risen Savior Jesus Christ.

Now we walk together six feet away, gather in Zoom meetings, and see each other in YouTube videos — a new normal, a new way of being, and new way of living.

I think about the disciples in that upper room, afraid and clinging to each other. The women’s words may have given them a sense of hope, but only Thomas left. But Jesus came in the midst of them and said, “Peace be with you.” Wow! How many of us need a word of peace, a word of hope, and a word that will relieve all our fears?

I am here to tell you, Jesus is in your midst. Jesus has broken the barriers and comes to you. Each and every day we have Jesus coming to us to offer us peace, to give us hope, to lift up our lives. You are not alone. So light a candle, have a bowl of water, remember your baptism and whose life you are connected to, the Holy One — Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer.

My prayer partner with whom I started a Zoom prayer meeting before Lent began writes a blog, and she ended her last post this way: “Show me, Risen Christ, how to and where to commend myself to your service, for the sake of this world.”

Be well. Be safe. Be hope.

I add my blessings to you, and remember you are a child of God.
