Child Care Coordinator

Located in the heart of old town Lenexa, Salem Lutheran Church has been serving the local community since 1885. The congregation is currently seeking a Child Care Coordinator to provide competent, loving, hygienic, and safe care of infants and children of the members and friends of Salem. This service is provided in order that parents may participate fully in the life of the church. This is a part-time position requiring a commitment of 8 - 10 hours per week.

The general responsibility for this role is to coordinate, schedule, and supervise childcare services during all worship services, “all-church” functions, and other special events of the church and its various groups. This may include Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, various ministry team meetings, choir practices and concerts, adult classes, small groups and workshops, among others. Service on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings is on a recurring schedule; other needs are sporadic throughout the month and will vary month to month. Director of Teen Ministries and Outreach

Located in Old Town Lenexa, Kansas, Salem Lutheran Church has been serving the local community since 1885. The congregation is currently seeking a Director of Teen Ministries and Outreach to create and implement teen ministries and provide Lutheran spiritual education to teens from 7th-12th grade based on ELCA teachings and guidelines. In addition, this individual will assist the Senior Pastor in the development, oversight, and implementation of outreach ministries for all ages. This is a full-time position with ELCA benefits. The position reports directly to the Senior Pastor and will work with and through lay leaders and volunteers to foster the integration of Christian faith and daily life into the lives of teens as well as foster a commitment to ongoing outreach opportunities for the congregation. Well-qualified candidates will have excellent communication skills, a positive Christian attitude, a strong service orientation, and an outgoing and inclusive personal style, experience with the theology and practices of the ELCA, and be skilled in using social media tools.
