Confirmation

Salem confirmation is a two-year program for 7th-8th grade students covering the Old Testament, New Testament, and Luther's Catechism. Learning sessions include both a large and small group environment giving students an opportunity to build connections with peers, adults, and God. Confirmation students meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm to 7:50pm beginning in September and running through May. Social events, community service, and our annual retreat are also included in the program! Three times a year confirmands and their parents gather with other local confirmation programs through KCLYC (Kansas City Lutheran Youth Coalition) to focus on relevant issues facing our young people.

Salem's Ministries

God has given each Christian two vitally important gifts. The first is the gift of faith in Jesus Christ, his work of redemption, and his forgiveness of sin. The second is the gift of one or more special abilities, which are to be used for the purpose of unifying the body of Christ and for the growth of God's Kingdom. These abilities are called spiritual gifts and they are received through our baptism. Like other presents, it is impossible to fully appreciate and make use of our spiritual gifts until they have been opened. Below is a list of opportunities at Salem that invites each of us to put our gifts to use.

Salem's ministry teams are organized around our mission statement, Encounter God, Grow in Faith, Serve the World. Although there are opportunities to Encounter, Grow, and Serve in all we do; our ministries are organized by their primary objectives. The Encounter ministries are focused on praise and worship experiences; the Grow ministries on education and fellowship, and the Serve ministries on outreach and benevolence. Additionally, there is an Administrative group of ministries that provide infrastructure and support for all ministries.
